Almeda University at the Forefront of Online Education Revolution

Demand for higher education is higher than ever before, which is why online education is becoming increasingly prevalent-and Almeda University is leading the way.

There is no industry that is totally exempt from the laws of supply and demand, and education is no exception. A recent report from The Atlantic notes that the demand for higher education is at an all-time high, yet the United States' educational system is poorly equipped to handle it. As traditional universities have struggled to keep up with the sheer volume of eager learners, however, online education has risen to the challenge and filled the gap. While some conventional universities are still fumbling toward bringing their educational models into the Digital Age, institutions like Almeda University are making higher education attainable to anyone with Internet access.

According to Almeda University's Richard Smith, however, the reluctance of traditional universities to adopt online education technology has little to do with what is best for students. "There are several reasons traditional universities have been reluctant to move to an online education system," says Smith, in a press statement from Almeda. "The three main concerns cited by traditional universities have been problems with interaction between student and professor, inability to accurately proctor and manage testing processes while minimizing cheating, and reduced profit."

Smith continues by noting that the online education options that are becoming so common are ultimately what many students need. "It's interesting, however, that arguments against online learning seldom had to do with preparing candidates for real world experiences," Smith continues. "The Almeda University online education model has been criticized by numerous traditional universities - who are now, in turn, replicating the Almeda University online learning architecture."

Indeed, the Atlantic article notes that online universities, such as the University of Phoenix and Almeda University, originally met with scorn from traditional institutions. In the last few years,
however, the tables have turned, and more and more traditional colleges and universities are borrowing ideas and techniques from online-only schools.

The Atlantic concludes that online education is the wave of the future, and while some traditional universities are still reluctant to embrace it, employers and students alike are benefiting from the flexibility offered by virtual education.
