Artist Donates Happiness to Homeless
Online, September 7, 2009 (Newswire.com) - San Clemente, CA, United States, 9/06/2009 - Imagine a secret retreat, with peaceful cascading skies and an ocean view that lets you "get away from it all" by simply looking up at your wall. Three artist proof giclees, in a series called "Happiness", by fine art painter Paul Bond, were donated to the Laguna Beach Friendship Shelter's annual homeless fund raiser to be held September 11th, 2009 at Seven Degrees in Laguna.
"I was moved to make a contribution to this cause when I read about the theme, "The Art of Getting Home" says Bond. "One of the paintings in the series is actually titled, "Shelter". When I read about the call for art donations, it was an obvious connection", the artist explains. All three paintings feature stacked stones, on a beautiful ocean shoreline with peaceful skies. On top of the stacked stones, there are little houses. They are more like little huts you would relax in if you were on a tropical vacation.
"The inspiration behind the paintings", Bond says, "came from my wife. She is always telling me to "dream it up". She is one of the few who know that we create our experience and physical environment based on our beliefs and thoughts. Those who wait for outer experiences to make them happy are at a large disadvantage. Happiness is simply a choice based on our desire for it - and our corresponding outer experiences will mold themselves to reflect our inner state." Bond says that if he could grant one wish to the adults in the Friendship Shelter's self-sufficiency program, it would be to instill them with that message. Bond believes, "As hard as life is sometimes, if you truly believe it will get better, it will." Bond hopes the series will command a high price and make a generous contribution to the Friendship Shelter at the event on Sept 11th, 2009. The original series is on display at the Lu Martin Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA.
