As Deadline Nears, PGDM Applications At SPJIMR Seeing An Increase Of 25%
Online, November 11, 2013 (Newswire.com) - SPJIMR on Friday, 8th November, 2013, announced that applications for its flagship two year PGDM programme have jumped 25 per cent when compared to last year.
The robust jump in applications comes in a year the SPJIMR application window has been compressed by about three weeks. The SPJIMR PGDM online application process for 240 seats was launched on September 15 and is scheduled to close on November 18.
The rise in the overall number of applications also comes in a year when the number of applicants for the Common Admission Test (CAT) is reported to have dipped.
Dr.Atish Chattopadhyay, Deputy Director, PGDM at SPJIMR said: "The improved numbers of applicants reflect the fact that the acceptance of the SPJIMR PGDM progamme has gone up with the applicants based on the industry acceptance of our graduates."
There is also a healthy mix of engineers and non-engineers seen in the applications, with about 20-25 per cent of the applicants being non engineers at this stage in the process. The SPJIMR PGDM programme has been noted for the diversity it brings to the classroom with a good mix of students from varied backgrounds.
As many as 85 per cent of the applicants have given their preference for early interviews this time. This marks a shift in the interview process, with both students and SPJIMR preferring early interviews such that the entire process is conducted in a manner that is not too rushed.
Said Dr.Chattopadhyay: "Interviews are critical for us and an early interview marks a major shift in the way interviews for MBA programmes are being conducted. We will be able to devote more time for interviews. This provides ample opportunity for the School and the students to assess each other."
The interviews process begins in January 2014.
