Data Destruction Goes Global
Online, November 22, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Shredall are a nationwide document security company, specialising in secure document shredding and data destruction. Their new hard drive degaussing contract comes straight after the completion of a successful international project, during which they degaussed four thousand computer hard drives. And just last month, Shredall's team travelled to Cyprus to degauss one thousand tapes and hard drives. The degaussed media was sent back to Shredall's HQ in Nottingham to be shredded and recycled.
Companies storing personal or financial data on PCs, servers or data tapes risk having the data fall into the wrong hands should they update their computer systems or get rid of unwanted computer equipment.
Many companies overwrite data stored on magnetic media, but this does not erase the data completely. Degaussing, however, uses an electro magnet to erase data and is the only way to be sure that the data is 100% destroyed.
Shredall's Managing Director, Lloyd Williams, says: "Shredall have taken on a huge contract and I am confident we will perform to the best of our ability. Cyprus was successful - and now we look forward to taking on the rest of Europe, every American state and all four corners of the globe!"
Lloyd continues: "Shredall have invested a substantial amount into a NATO approved degausser to ensure we comply with all relevant standards in our industry. It is approved by the UK government, meets specified requirements of SEAP (Security Equipment Assessment Panel) and the CESG Standard for the secure erasure and destruction of information plus data stored on magnetic media up to a top secret level."
Degaussing entails passing magnetic media through a powerful electro-magnet, which rearranges the metallic particles. This effectively eradicates all traces of the data, which cannot then be recovered. It does, however, render the media inoperative.
Shredall's Director Lucy Williams says: "Shredall is one of only two companies in the UK who are annually audited to NAID AAA Certification. We are also members of the BSIA Information Destruction Section."
Sales Director Nik Williams adds: "Not only do we meet UK standards - we meet US Government National Security Agency standards and US-DoD requirements."
Shredall's hard drive degaussing service is suitable for organisations that store sensitive data using magnetic media, such as educational establishments, hospitals and doctors' surgeries or financial services.
