Dr Tariq Drabu Discusses GDC Legal Case in 2015

Manchester, United Kingdom, January 8, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Dr Tariq Drabu is a Manchester born and educated dentist and specialist oral surgeon. He is one of the youngest dentists to ever graduate in the United Kingdom at only twenty one years of age. He then went on to work in some of the busiest dental hospitals in the UK and Saudi Arabia and showed a passion for oral surgery. On his return to the UK, he completed his Fellowship in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and is now the proud owner of the successful Langley Dental Practice in Middleton, North Manchester. Dr Tariq Drabu said “The GDC (General Dental Council) is the council responsible for regulating the dental industry in the United Kingdom. It is a serious concern to note that they have been found to be acting unlawfully in a judgment which took place on 18 December 2014, which was initiated by the British Dental Association over the dental fees increased by more than £15 million.”

Dr Tariq Drabu went on to say “The fee that was implemented hasn’t been declined based on administrative issues and there wasn’t enough compelling evidence supplied to justify such a harsh increase. Every year all dentists pay the GDC an ARF, annual retention fee, this is almost our annual license to continue practicing and providing the public with quality dental treatments.”

Dr Tariq Drabu closed in saying “I sincerely hope that they can come to some form of resolution in the very near future. The GDC has been found to be woefully inefficient by its own regulator. The condescending high handed way that they dealt with dentists during this consultation was nothing short of disgraceful. Senior management at the council should have resigned over this fiasco and it is a very sad outcome that nobody has been held to account for this complete and utter farce of a fee consultation."
