Futuro Markets Release Diamond Industry's First Quarter 2013 Report

The Diamond Industry Is As Resilient As Ever according to new report

Resilient, strong, solid. This is how the Diamond industry fared in the first quarter of 2013, according to the new report entitled "First Quarter 2013 Report: Stability and Optimism" published by Futuro Markets.

The report takes an in-depth look at global diamond industry trends, pricing and highlights during the first quarter of 2013 as well as expert forecasts for the rest of the year. It features facts and figures collected from credible sources such as Rappaport and IDEX, financial news agencies such as Bloomberg and Financial Times as well as interview from expert investors and auction houses.

"First Quarter 2013 Report:Stability and Optimism" also highlights rare pink diamonds as an investor's new best friend with its demand soaring from emerging markets such as China and India whose combined market share is projected to reach 30 percent by the end of the decade, up nearly half from its current levels and nearly equal to the share of the United States.
The industry's healthy start to the year proved that diamonds are still resilient and are moving at a steady, sure pace. Rough transactions in the market started to generate profit once again and the demand from the East is doubling. In fact, De Beers announced recently that China may buy 25% of diamonds in a decade supplanting the US as the biggest buyer of gems. Philippe Mellier, CEO of De Beers said "China could grow to 20% to 25% of the market; the same for India. The US would fall to about 30% of the market."

And experts agree.

During the recently concluded US/ International Diamond Week in Israel, Rapaport Group chairman, Martin Rappaport emphasized the growing supply and the increasing role of India and China as diamond consumers due to their expanding middle classes. The U.S. and Europe were like "old people - they are well off and they already have diamonds, while Hong Kong and China and India are healthy and growing markets", he said.
