Help save the world with carbon offsets, says Property Frontiers

Now, you and your family can step up and take their place as heroes who saved the planet by joining a carbon-offsetting scheme The land is worth 200 carbon-trading credits.

Oxford - September 4 2009 - If you ever wanted to be a superhero and save the planet, now's your chance to act cool and slow down global warming with carbon offsetting (http://www.propertyfrontiers.com/carbon-offset), according to property investment consultancy Property Frontiers.

Every British family is responsible for 18 metric tonnes of destructive greenhouse gases in the atmosphere every year and in those eco-friendly times, many families want to lessen their impact on destroying the world.

The trouble is, until now, no feasible strategy for families to make a contribution to the fight against global climate change has been available.

Now, you and your family can step up and take their place as heroes who saved the planet by joining a carbon-offsetting scheme (http://www.propertyfrontiers.com/carbon-offset).

The idea is simple; you and your family buy some land in Costa Rica. The land is worth 200 carbon-trading credits.

Each credit counters one metric tonne of greenhouse gases that are output, so you keep 18 to balance your consumption and have 182 more that can pass on or be sold to someone else to balance their output.

"Carbon credits allow lay investors to take part in an environmental project yielding high financial returns that is otherwise unavailable to them," said Ben Jeffris, of Property Frontiers.

"Whether the investor keeps or sells them, either way a beautiful piece of the Costa Rican rainforest is preserved, along with the biodiversity it contains.

"It really is a chance to help save the planet for a relatively small sum of money."

Minimum investment in the project is US$12,000 (£7,385) for a slice of land equivalent to 200 metric tonnes of 'clean air' to offset against greenhouses gases.

According to a recent survey of the carbon offset market, in 2008, about U$705 million of carbon offsets were traded in the smaller of the two schemes from individuals and small organisations, representing about 123.4 million metric tonnes of greenhouse gas reductions.
