Homecoming And Head-To Head Competition Coming Up At IMT'S Nagpur Campus
Online, October 26, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Students and alumni will go head-to-head on the playing fields when Institute of Management Technology Nagpur hosts two annual events - Ranbhoomi (the college's official sports fest) and Melange (alumni reunion) from the 11th to the 13thof October, 2012.
From volleyball to cricket, and throw-ball to badminton, Ranbhoomi, an action-packed annual war of two worlds, will see more than 14 teams - comprised of seniors, juniors and alumni - set the fields afire in their quest for victory.
"Ranbhoomi and Melange give us an opportunity to show our sporting skills to the rest of the IMT family and also gives us a chance to interact and take valuable lessons from the alumni on corporate values," says Nilesh Kashikar (PGDM 2012-14), a good badminton player in his own right.
With IMT Nagpur's Sports committee in charge of Ranbhoomi, no stone is being left unturned to make the event an overwhelming success.
"Ranbhoomi and Melange are once-in-a-year events," says Pritpal Singh, a Sportscom member, football player and PGDM 2011-13 student."These events put a lot of responsibility on us and also give us ample chances to show our mettle in scheduling, planning, playing and executing."
And the alumni reunion Melange, which brings a virtual who's who of the corporate world to the IMT Nagpur campus, will give today's students a chance to mingle and talk with corporate stars during the full three days of fun, sports and interaction.
Last year, the hotly-contested sporting events saw some true down-to-the-wire, nail-biting finishes. The football match between the 'CKC' and 'The Super Seniors' teams was one of the most exciting moments of Ranbhoomi, with the match being decided in favour of the 'Super Seniors' after a penalty shoot-out. Volleyball and cricket, both keenly contested, were won by the 'Slayers' while the women's throw-ball match and the tug-of-war were photo-finishes.
Meanwhile, at Melange - the annual reunion organised by the Corporate Interaction Committee (CIC) - a large number of alumni are looking forward to take a break from their corporate and entrepreneurial duties to share their experience and knowledge with the newer generations attending IMT Nagpur. The number of Alumni team registered is already 4 (each team compromising of 16-20 players). Melange is all set to witness IMT Nagpur alumni in healthy numbers.
IMT Nagpur is all ablaze with the spirit of sport with juniors looking forward to lock horns with their super seniors on field. Last year also saw an interactive session with IMT Nagpur's Director, a ceremonial dinner for the alumni with faculty, Zimfonia - the music forum of the institute, and a DJ party.
If last year's Ranbhoomi and Melange are anything to go by, this year's autumn event will outstrip even the Oktoberfest!
