Living It Up, The IMT Nagpur Way!

For IMT Nagpur, in the academic session 2010-12, the action never stopped! Right from L?inizio, where the freshers were welcomed by their senior counterpart in a funfilled evening in June 2011, to the Table Tennis Championship towards the fag-end of March 2012, IMT Nagpur was a rollicking affair all the way.

The first big event of the session was the ?Institute Day? of IMT, Nagpur, celebrated every year on the 26th July. The Chief Guest this year, Mr. Amitava Bose, former Director IIM-C and a Jawaharlal Nehru Gold Medal awardee, gave a spellbinding account of the life and times of the legendary Dr. Anwar Ali - the first director of IMT Nagpur, who passed away on 26 June, 2010 ? that will be etched in the memory of its listeners for a long time. The toppers of batch 2010-12 were awarded scholarships and prizes and the students of IMT-Nagpur organised a successful blood donation camp within the campus.

Close on the heels of the ?Institute Day? the conclusion of recruitment process was celebrated in style between the 29th and 31st of July 2011, by Marque - the marketing forum of IMT Nagpur. The event was a tongue-in-cheek manner competition, christened LSD or ?Lagegi Sabki Dukaan?. The promotional campaign of LSD included flyers, sketches in front of co-op, mess and every noticeable place including the ?Panchubhau? shop, and had an unlucky-for-some entry fee of Rs.13. That the concept of LSD and its marketing was a hit can be gauged by the fact that there were 80 teams in the fray in the first round of a written quiz. Only 9 teams made it to the second round, where contesting teams were asked to place a brand in a 30-second movie clip. The victorious teams ?Bhukkads? and ?CGC?, were both from first year.

With the end of August, it was time for the gala annual fest which is so eagerly awaited by all at IMT Nagpur ? Milestone34. Held on 26th-28thAugust, 2011, the 13 teams in the fray, egged on by the motivational words of Dr. Rajendra Nargundkar, Director IMT Nagpur and Dr.Kulbir Singh, put up a splendid show in events like the ?Okonomos Trade Watch?, ?Operation Bruckenbau? and ?six degrees of separation?. Team ?HEX-MEN? came in for special mention as the only all-junior team.

In August 2011, IMT Nagpur also had the proud privilege of hosting MSMECON 2011 ? the 2nd International Conference on Management of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Luminaries from the world of management - academia, practicing managers, industry researchers and scholars ? descended on IMT Nagpur to present papers on the latest developments, issues and applications, with reference to MSMEs.

All this while IMT Nagpur was gearing up for its biggest annual extravaganza - Milestone35; the IMT Nagpur fest, open to all B-schools across the country. The two-day extravaganza on the 25th of August was kickstarted with a brilliant game called ?Deportivo-360?, where the best B-schools across the country, locked horns in devising a fool-proof strategy to promote a lesser-famous sport of India, and catapult it to fame and success. The strategy of the team from SIBM, Pune was voted the best.

Other important events in Milestone35 included competitions on case submissions organised by the IMT Nagpur HR forum ? XploHRe, and a competition on stock trading called ?KINGDOM OF THROOPENCE?. But what put Milestone35 apart from other run-of-the-mill fests, was a short films competition, conducted in association with Cyrus Dastur?s ?Shamiana?. The event was a stunning revelation in quality of content.
