Nautical Knowledge - What Every Boater Needs to Know to Keep Safe

Vital knowledge for recreational boaters, inshore and offshore. Nautical Knowledge is an easy way to learn the Rules of the Road, IALA Buoyage Systems A and B, Navigation Lights displayed at night, Signal Flags and Fog and other Sound Signals.

SYDNEY, Australia - April 30, 2010 -- Anybody who goes on the water at night, inshore or offshore, needs to know what other shipping is about. You can only tell this from the lights they are, by law, wearing. Now you can do it without learning all the light configurations off by heart.

With this new product and a computer on board, you can keep examples of all navigation lights at your fingertips all the time. All you have to do is install this simple download (PC or Mac), open the Navigation Lights menu and then minimise the program.

Carry on with your normal navigation with no interruption but if you get into a situation where you don't know the lights ahead of you, just maximise the Nautical Knowledge program and scroll through until you find the configuration you want to identify. Then you'll know who has right of way and danger will be avoided. Another touch of the button and you are back to your navigation screen.

Of course it is better if you learn the lights so the Nautical Knowledge also has quizzes so you can test yourself and learn them all so easily.

The Nautical Knowledge is brought to you by The Boating Bible team but it is more than just a list of lights.

The Nautical Knowledge is five interactive quizzes which allow users to learn, revise and then test themselves on these key areas of safety and seamanship:
• Rules of the Road
• Buoyage - IALA regions A and B
• Navigation Lights
• Signal Flags
• Fog and other Sound Signals

What's more, you can refer to the Nautical Knowledge over and over again.

The Nautical Knowledge download is vital for everybody who's interested in or needs to know the basic regulations that control our sport and our safety.

For some examinations and licensing, having this knowledge is mandatory.

The Nautical Knowledge is available as a stand-alone download for either Mac or PC and costs AU$9.95. Order the Nautical Knowledge from The Boating Bible Manual of Seamanship.
