New Local Events Calendar

Online, September 2, 2009 (Newswire.com) - A new local events calendar is available at http://CityEventsCalendar.org for people searching for things to do in their communities. The new resource offers free event listings for promoters of almost any type of local event. Site visitors can pull up a calendar of events in their area sorted by date and category. Social networking capabilities allow promoters to spread the word about their events by email, instant messaging and social bookmarking. It also allows visitors to receive automatic updates about local events via Twitter or RSS feeds, and to get mapped directions.

"We have two goals for http://CityEventsCalendar.org," said a spokesperson for the new site. "First, we want to provide a very fast, simple way for anyone to promote almost any local event for free. In under a minute anyone can a create a listing on the site for almost any event, whether it be a yard sale, a charity banquet, club event, or a major concert. Second, we want to provide a very easy way for people to find great events happening in their communities that are of interest to them, and to easily share those with their friends."

The site, which is noticeably free of animation or heavy graphics, is designed to be extremely user friendly so that events can be found or added with minimal time or effort. Despite its simplicity, there are significant plans to add more functionality in the future.
