Paddle Punch - League Of Titans 2012 Table Tennis Event

Online, August 18, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The first round witnessed some high octane clashes as each team produced a buoyant display of the game to announce their presence as strong contenders in the event and, on a larger scale, the 'League of Titans'. Blitzkrieg (Jnr B), the team that played the inaugural match, went on to win the title and en route exhibited some incredible 'tricks and trades' of the game. Anish, a national level Table-Tennis champion, led from the front for Blitzkrieg and his contagious energy resulted in 2 of his team members, Gautam and Kanika, emerging as the 'players of the tournament'.

One of the best matches of the tournament was the semi-final clash between Blitzkrieg and 'Crack Smokin' (Snr C). Amidst loud cheering from the crowd, both sections produced thrilling encounters to send the spectators into rapture. The most engaging was the men's doubles match between Apurv/Sambhav(Snr C) and Gautam/Raunak(Jnr B). The match ended in favour of the Jnr B 7-11 11-5 17-19 11-6 20-18 and that helped them progress to the finals 3-1(gag).

The other semi-final was no less a battle, as 'Regenerators'(Snr D) showed great resilience in overcoming the 'Red Dragons'(DCP A) challenge. The highlight of the contest was the men's singles match between Abhishek and Goswami where Abhishek came on top under immense pressure. He defeated Goswami 11-13, 11-5, 11-3, 11-7. 'D-generation' (Snr D) won 3-2(gag) to play for the championship.

The final between 'Blitzkrieg'(Jnr B) and 'D-generation'(Snr D) witnessed tremendous support for both teams. The 1st singles match of the final featured Anish and Abhishek , perhaps the best players of the tournament. Anish produced a performance to behold that left the audience awestruck. He pulverised Abhishek 11-5, 11-4, 11-4, 11-1 to stamp the 'Blitzkrieg'(Jnr B) authority over the final.

Jnr B won its other men's singles match as well, in which Gautam showed great tenacity which put him at par with his team-mate, Anish. He won 11-3, 11-8, 11-0, 11-3.

Jnr B's Kanika overcame strong resistance from Snr D's Karnica to crown 'Blitzkrieg'(Jnr B) the champions of 'Paddle Punch'. She won 11-0, 9-11, 9-11, 5-11, 11-4, 12-10, 11-5.

Prizes were distributed to the winners as well as runners -up. There was other individual recognition too:

Best player - Anish (Jnr B)

Overall, the inaugural event of the 'League of Titans 2012' was a grand success that befitted the hard work of the Junior Sports Committee under the mentorship of the Senior Sports Committee.
