Performance Air Intake Kits by 'j1 automotive' for the Fiesta Mk7

Online, March 26, 2010 (Newswire.com) - The new Ford Fiesta launched in 2009 offers 3 petrol engine variants, the 1.25, the 1.4 and the 1.6 litre, and all would be supported by a new Performance Air Intake System. The kit will comprise of a heat shield, which will replace the Air Cleaner, a Performance cotton j1filter, and all the necessary connections and fixings for easy installation. Due to the locality of the current stock Air Cleaner, j1 automotive have engineered the replacement air intake kit to shield off the area infront of the battery next to the headlamp from hot engine bay air, and receive cold air directly from the intake above the grille. "The complete system restriction has dropped by 60% at maximum engine flow rate compared to the stock system, and 80% at the lower flow rates" says Tony Cotton, Engineer and Director of j1 automotive "This will equate to substantial increases in the vehicles BHP, but we need to get this tested on a vehicle dyno before quoting any performance figures".

j1 automotive launched their first performance cotton j1filter late last year with the introduction of the R53 and R56 Mini John Cooper Works Performance j1filter kits. Claims of final efficiency levels close to 98% would put them higher than some of the market leading foam filters. "We're promoting performance air intakes, but we maintain high levels of engine protection. Most OEM's source paper filters with efficiency levels of over 99%, we can't achieve that with cotton, but through analysing the media velocities, and working with the engine maximum flow rates, we can get close".

The Fiesta kits are due for launch later this year in May, and will cover all of the petrol engine variants; plans to cover the diesel versions could follow on later in the year. j1 automotive propose to increase their range of performance air intakes with various product launches over the next few months.
