REP Inc. (Real Energy Productions) will be celebrating its 15th year attending TIFF.

Online, September 1, 2009 (Newswire.com) - (TORONTO) September 1st, 2009 - REP Inc. Real Energy Productions will be celebrating its 15th year attending TIFF.

This up coming Toronto International Film Festival will no doubt be bigger and better then ever, however there is one Toronto based production company who will be celebrating more then perhaps others as this years TIFF kicks off.

REP Inc. (Real Energy Productions) was established in 1991 by it founder Frank Sicoli, and this years TIFF REP Inc will be celebrating its 15th year attending the festival. As Mr. Sicoli remembers it, "the 1994 TIFF was like my first real introduction to Hollywood and being some what star struck." I was lucky enough to score an invite to Norman Jewison's annual party that year and my lucky streak continued when I had a very passionate conversation with the then newly appointed Director and CEO of TIFF Piers Handling about Canadian film makers having to make really good films that appeals to the masses in North America and NOT necessarily about making films about "being Canadian". Much has changed over the last 15 years for the festival, and yet many thing still remain the same. "It is still a festival for the movie going public" said Sicoli, "even though it seems that Hollywood has taken over much of lime-light during TIFF, I think it is very cool to see films like Michael Moore's "Roger and Me" which won 'The People Choice" award in 1989 and "Slum Dog Millionaire" which won last years award (2008), have as much of a chance against the 'big budget" features, only in Canada, and only at TIFF."
I have a full schedule of meetings this year, but I will still try to get to a couple of film premiers. I really want to see "Green Porno: Bon Appetite" with Isabella Rossellini / Jody Shapiro, and "Beautiful Kate" with Rachael Ward.

When I asked Mr. Sicoli if there was any projects he was announcing during the festival? He smiled and said, " We have a couple of surprises up our sleeves, but if I tell you now they wouldn't be a surprise then, would they?"
