Synergyst released Global Solar Photovoltaic Market Report (2009)

In 2008, the global installed capacity of solar PV systems reached 15GW, up 50%; Europe leading thr market follwoed by United States and Asia. Spain added record 2.5GW during the year.

Today, Synergyst released a new report, titled, Global Solar Photovoltaic Market Report (2009), which focuses on the worldwide developments in the solar photovoltaic technology. At the end of 2008, the cumulative global installed capacity of solar PV systems reached 15 gigawatts growing by more than 50% during the year. Roughly 90% of this generating capacity consists of grid-tied electrical systems. Europe maintained it's position as the global leader with strong growth coming from the Spanish market which added about 2.5GW of new capacity in 2008. Outside Europe, the United States, South Korea and China showed positive growth trends, despite global financial crisis during the second half of the year.

The report Global Solar Photovoltaic Market Report (2009) analyzes this industry, starting from the basics to what is driving this industry. The report starts off with a brief overview of the global energy market which contains data on global energy statistics, outlook for the industry, growing focus on renewable energy worldwide, and of course, the potential of solar energy. The report then moves on the discussing the basic technology behind solar photovoltaics. The section looks at PV cells and modules, inverters, the various components of a PV system, and the various types of PV systems available today.

Moving on to the global photovoltaic industry, the report analyzes the entire PV market in terms of application area, global PV production statistics, and the future potential of solar photovoltaics. Strategies and recommendations for researchers, analysts, and in general, is a highlight of section four of the report. Factors affecting the growth of solar photovoltaics such as the focus on clean energy, security of energy supplies, etc., are described in details, along with the challenges and barriers facing the market at the same time. The regulatory framework affecting the worldwide PV market is also focused upon in the report, dealing with indirect policy issues, initiatives supporting and promoting PV technology, amongst others. A cost analysis of solar photovoltaics technology is a sizmajor highlight of this report. A country-wise analysis of the PV industry is further undertaken, while different sections deals with the major solar PV companies and major solar projects in the world.
