United Maintenance Inc. Completes Clean Room Construction for Pharmaceutical Laboratory

United Maintenance Inc, (UMI), an industry leader in the design and construction of Clean Rooms and Laboratories announced the successful completion of another construction project for a North Georgia Pharmaceutical Analytical Laboratory.

United Maintenance Inc, (UMI), an industry leader in the design and construction of Clean Rooms and Laboratories meeting rigorous Federal 797 and ISO standards, announced the successful completion of another construction project for a North Georgia Pharmaceutical Analytical Laboratory.

"Job well done, Team...we've done it again!," said UMI clean room spokesperson Steve Roman, to the assembled UMI crew following the project completion. Since 1983, UMI has completed well over 100 clean room projects with a 100% success rate in meeting and maintaining the industry's highest standards.

Recent national attention focused on failures by one pharmaceutical compounding facility in New England to meet and maintain safe ISO standards. While that is not the only instance in which ISO standards were not met, it served as an alarming reminder to the public of just how critical such standards are, and why they must be achieved and maintained without exception.

In that news-breaking case, lives were lost and health was compromised among hundreds of people across the U.S., when injected with products that had been contaminated by an undetected fungus in the lab where the products were produced. Federal 797 and ISO standards, and companies like UMI, exist to prevent such outcomes.

Microscopic airborne or surface contaminating particles, invisible to the naked eye, cannot be detected with a visual inspection. Clean room technology and ISO standards exist to monitor and measure the presence of, as well as prevent intrusion by, such "invisible" matter. ISO Standard 14644 was first published in 1999 to address the need for a single standard for clean room classification and testing.

The average citizen will not be able to conjure up a good mental image of what is meant by design criteria but most are satisfied to know that there is a highly professional sector of the clean room technology industry that knows exactly how to design and construct facilities to keep "the good stuff in and the bad stuff out."

UMI subsidiary, United Green Building Solutions, installed DDC ISO Standards controllers, which according to Roman "offer the most up to date technology without sacrificing stable reliability." This resulted in greater energy efficiency and resource conservation by using direct expansion cooling for the dehumidification process and to take advantage of Hot Gas re-reheat to save on energy.

Pharmaceutical laboratories, hospitals, aerospace facilities and factories that produce clean, fleck-free screens for mobile devices, laptops and other technological devices are just a few of the industries that increasingly rely on clean room technology and companies like United Maintenance Inc. to help keep people healthy and provide the high-tech devices used by most people on a daily basis.

United Maintenance Inc. is an industry leader in designing and building Clean Rooms, 797 Pharmaceutical Compounding Pharmacies for Sterile Preparations, and Labs that are required to meet ISO Standard 14644. PPG, GE Energy Services, Eastman Kodak Corporation, BD (Becton Dickinson and Company), Ciba Vision Corporation and Rockwell International are counted among UMI's satisfied clients.

The UMI team responsible for the success of this most recent and many other clean room projects, was led by Steve Roman, Mark Huff, and Jim Nixon. For a complete report on, or more information about the specifications involved in this project, contact Steve Roman. [email protected]
