Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter

This spring, be the first to explore the exciting new 'Wizarding World of Harry Potter'. Complete with the Hogwarts Castle, the village of Hogsmeade and many other attractions, it will not be a disappointment to most fans.

Why should you visit Universal this year?
Orlando is a busy tourist city- with many theme parks, water parks, tourist attractions, shopping strips, malls, restaurants- it can get pretty overwhelming! There is plenty to keep you busy, and even many Orlandians haven't done most of what there is to do here. So what should you do?

When people think Orlando, they think of two things: Disney World and Universal Studios. How do you pick between the two theme park giants? In this article, I'll lay out the reasons why you should choose Universal Escape Orlando as your vacation pick for 2010.

First of all, Universal is your best bet if you're going with mostly adults or with teenagers- it's a more grown-up park than Disney World, which is geared mostly for younger kids. Universal also now owns Wet 'n Wild water park nearby. The Universal Escape seems almost like its own small city- it has many hotels on the property, usually pretty pricey (and worth every dime!). Getting to the parks is pretty easy- there is one parking area for both, which leads to the appropriately named CityWalk. CityWalk is chock full of stores, restaurants, and more importantly, nightclubs! It is open until 2am most nights and at least one of the clubs offers a teen night a few times a month- for teens 13-19 years old only. CityWalk acts as a walkway between both Universal theme parks- Universal Studios, which is mostly movie-oriented, and Islands of Adventure, which has more thrill rides and is divided into smaller 'worlds.' Both offer fun attractions and pretty good food.

Speaking of which- Islands of Adventure is adding a new world, which is scheduled to open this spring: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, currently in construction. It features rides, shops, and more directly out of the popular books and movies. There are already rumors buzzing about the new area, and a commercial is set to air during the Super Bowl.

There are also events throughout the year; the nearest is the 15th Annual Mardi Gras, which is a scaled-down and less adult version of the New Orleans festival. It starts on February 6th and will continue on select nights through April 17th. There are floats, beads, live music, authentic food and drinks, and a lot more. Popular bands such as Chicago, Heart, and 3 Doors Down will be playing this year, along with many others. For more information please visit http://www.theorlandovacationstore.com/ .
